Travel Planning Process

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

I've had a few people ask me about my travel planning process so I thought I would share what I have found to be the quickest and easiest way to plan our trips. I've shared a few things already on my Instagram Stories which you can find under my travel highlights https://www.instagram.com/thatbutlerlife/. But I'll go into a few more details here!

Once I have what destination(s) we are traveling to, I always google search, ask friends, or check out pinterest for the must see sights and attractions. Once I've generated a good list, I go to my google account and access google maps. The reason I do google maps through my account is because it allows me to save the maps I make.

I create a new map, and start plugging in destinations. If you have more than 10 destinations you can either make a new map or add another layer onto your current map to add more destinations. If you click on layer options and click step by step directions, you can view the amount of time it will take to get to each destination (you can change travel options from car, train, walking, etc). I use this to make our itineraires and determine which sights I can fit into each day.

If you have wifi during your travel you can access this straight on your phone. But when we traveled internationally we used the gps in the rental car to plug in our destinations and I saved images of my maps I created on my phone. Having everything organized this way allows you to easily plan your days stress free! And if you end up needing/wanting to cut things out you know exactly how much time it will free up as well as where you are headed next. I hope that all makes sense and helps you in planning your next trip! If you have any questions feel free to send me a message! Happy Travels!

Cheers
